The release of Windows 7 brought about an army of multi touch devices, today we look into Acer’s latest creation the Aspire 5738PG. This amazing multi touch screen enabled laptop is not only good to look at but also fantastic when it comes to performance. Acer assures a robust build quality but the design of the laptop is not specific to the touch screen facility, thereby creating a previously unknown dilemma.
The 15.6 inches screen of the Aspire 5738PG sports a vibrant resolution of 1366x768. However just like Acer’s previous versions, the glossy finish makes it susceptible to reflections and bright light. The newly integrated multi touch function works perfectly, the touch screen does not provide adequate viewing angles and even due to small fonts on screen, reading becomes tiresome. The basic configuration seems to provide above average performance.
The Aspire 5738PG houses an Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 at 2.2GHz, the 4GB of RAM provide extra power as well. Pre installed with the 64 bit version of Windows 7 also ensures a fast and responsive interface. The 320GB hard drive running at 5400rpm provides ample space for the users. A very striking feature is the ATI Radeon HD 4570 graphics card. A dedicated memory of 512MB ensures average gaming capabilities for the 5738PG.

Despite of the absence of Bluetooth Acer has incorporated a Wireless n Wi-Fi for the user’s convenience. When it comes to battery life the 5738PG is brilliant, in spite of a powerful graphics card the 4400mAh capacity battery provides long hours of uninterrupted performance. The integrated Windows 7 is capable of handling the touch screen function however the OS was not created with the touch interface in mind. Therefore the multi touch function may seem a bit cumbersome from time to time.

The unique multi touch interface of the 5738PG provides the users with a Touch Portal functions though which maneuvering and browsing through the laptop becomes easier. The ask price of approximately US$ 1120 the 5738PG is just too expensive. Apart from the exception of the multi touch screen there are hardly any more functions that are eye catching. Overall it is hard to suggest the consumers to buy it but it will definitely provide a new experience.
