Acer Aspire One V5 Ultra-Thin Notebook Review

At the CeBIT in Hannover (IT and communications trade fair), Taiwan based Acer showcased few dummy models of its new product – Acer Aspire V5 Ultra thin Notebook. The V5 notebooks are approximately 30% thinner than the existing Acer models in the market. Along with the V5 series, Acer also announced the V3 series of portable Notebooks.

The V3 series of Notebooks will have products with the following display sizes – 14 inch, 15.6 and 17.3 inch. Here in this article we review the features of the Acer Aspire One V5 Notebook in detail.

Features of Acer Aspire One V5 Ultra-Thin Notebook

The Acer Aspire V5 Notebooks will be released in three different display sizes – 11.6 inch, 14 inch and a 15.6 inch model. The smallest model from the V5 series of Notebooks (11.6 inches) will be called Acer Aspire One V5 Notebook and will come in black color only.

Dimensions

The 11.6 inch Aspire One V5 Notebook is just 15 mm thin (0.59 inches) and can very well be called an Ultrabook if we don’t take into consideration its processor specs.

On the other hand, the 14 inch Aspire V5 model is 21 mm thick and the 15.6 inch model is 23mm thin. Apart from the thickness measurement, the Acer Aspire One V5 Notebook is ultra light weight too. The 15.6 inch Notebook is expected to weigh approximately 5.07 pounds and the 14 inch Aspire V5 Notebook will weigh approximately 4.63 pounds.

Keyboard

The 11.6 inch Acer Aspire One V5 Notebook will come with a full sized chiclet keyboard, a number pad and a trackpad. The other products in the V5 series also are expected to have a full sized keyboard, number pad and a trackpad.

Display

The Acer Aspire One V5 Notebook will have a Glossy LCD High Definition display. The display resolution and pixel density of the display are not yet known.

Processors

The Acer Aspire One V5 Notebook will have Intel on the inside. The 11.6 inch Aspire One V5 Notebook will have Intel Pentium/Celeron processor types. The Notebook is expected to be powered by a single Core i3 and Core i5 processors.

The 14 inch Notebook will have Intel Core i3 and Core i5 Ivy bridge processors along with a tray loading optical drive. The 15.6 inch Notebook will also have Intel’s Ivy Bridge Core i3 and Core i5 processors along with Nvidia GeForce Discrete GPU and a tray loading optical drive.

Others

The three Acer Aspire V5 Ultra thin Notebooks will have the following additional features as well – a USB 3.0 port, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, HDMI connector, 10/100/1000 (Gigabit) Ethernet port, WiFi connectivity, Acer’s Instant Connect technology that automatically scans and registers the most visited access points and the integrated LAN/VGA combo among others.

Price & Availability of Acer Aspire One V5 Ultra-Thin Notebook

The Acer Aspire V5 11.6 inch, 14 inch and finally the 15.6 inch Notebooks are slated to be released by the Company in the European market first and will be available to the common user by the end of the second quarter this year. The pricing of the products will start at $500 and is expected to go up to $1000.
