Adobe’s Acrobat is a document-creation software. Adobe has incorporated many dynamic features, like dynamic maps, animation integration, 256-bit encryption and improved forms, in its latest version of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
Adobe Acrobat 9 comes in three versions: Standard version at £265, Pro version at £425 and Pro Extended for £619. Pro Extended also includes Adobe Presenter, which integrates Adobe with Microsoft PowerPoint 2007.
Adobe has integrated an online community, Acrobat.com, with Acrobat 9 which includes Buzzword word processor with 5GB of file storage, and it also allows you to convert five documents to PDF. With the ConnectNow Web conferencing and desktop sharing tool, you can chat via voice, text and voice.
Till now the main focus of PDF was on print-readiness, but now it’s moving its focus onto multimedia content also. For the very first time, you can play movies with PDF. Now Acrobat enables its users to convert MOV and WMV files to Flash content which can be added to PDF files along with audio content and 3D models. You can play movies with Acrobat Reader 9 and don’t require any other media player.
Acrobat’s new Portfolio feature enables the users to drag and drop the content and then choose the options to present the content. Geospatial mapping preserves its coordinates and lets users measure the distances. But you will find it in Pro Extended version which is very pricey.
Acrobat 9 allows you to create online forms and create fillable fields, and a dashboard keeps the track of forms. Adobe has enhanced the security settings in Acrobat 9, the users can add 256-encryption, which is used by banks. You can access your document at Acrobat online or via WebDAV or network folders.Acrobat 9 also includes the search option allows you to search patterns as well as phrases and multiple words which was the most distinguishing feature of Acrobat 8.
