Alienware M11X – A gaming notebook?

Dell’s Alienware brand of computers have always been synonymous with soaring grade gaming. With the advent of the new gaming laptop from Alienware M11X things are not going to be the same again. Till now ultra- portable laptops and net-books were characterized by compromises. Not anymore. With this new offering Alienware has made sure to give the gamers a no compromise gaming laptop. This could very well go down in history as one of the best gaming laptops ever created.

Weighing around 1.8 kg, the M11X can be carried around with ease, either for work or as your gaming companion. Powered with an Intel Core 2 ULV it is supposed to give 6 to 6-1/2 hrs of batter life, thanks to the ULV. This processor consumes much less power as compared to the power hungry and bulky Alienware desktops. The M11X’s own 11.5 “inch is similar to the resolution of a 15 “inch screen.

Amazing graphics in such an ultra portable laptop is possible due to NVIDIA discrete graphics GT335M, 720p and a screen measuring 1366x768. The best part about the laptop Alienware has come up with is a switch. The user can turn on and off the graphics card depending on usage. Which means without restarting or logging off you could easily switch over from your mundane office work to two hours of glorious gaming in just 2 seconds.

The drool factor of this laptop is its red back lit keyboard which looks stunning with the superior exterior finish. It has a video out capability via Display Port, VGA and HDMI. Some of the known stats known are the 3D mark scores which stand at around 6k-7k.
Resolution is so breathtaking that 50 FPS Crysis and 30 FPS Call of Duty was possible on high setting with full two hours of battery life with all settings turned on.

Expected around later this year the base model could cost around $ 700 and the top end costing less than $ 1000. This could very well be the answer to all hardcore gamers who used to think twice about carrying their bulky laptops around. With such an ultra-portable and powerful Laptop things are not going to be the same again. Now gaming anywhere and everywhere is finally possible. Alienware’s new M11X is definitely the gaming laptop of the year.
