Altec Lansing iMT702 is a portable iPod or iPhone speaker system which sports a rechargeable battery, remote control, rechargeable battery, FM radio and auxiliary input. Altec Lansing has made some changes to iM600 to make iMT702 as a great sounding portable system.

The iMT702 measures 7.5 inches by 12 inches by 2 inches. It’s quite bigger in size than the Logitech Pure-Fi Mobile but slimmer than Bose SoundDock Portable which has similar sound quality like iMT702. The left and right sides are designed to look like metal bars with bolts and the front is made of perforated black metal grille. In the center lies the 1.75-inch LCD screen. In addition to that four 2-inch speakers, only two are powered other two help passively, are also placed on the front of the system. On the top edge of iMT702 lies a strip of touch sensitive buttons- power, volume, skip, and audio source and ESS sound enhancement. Buttons are backlit with orange light that makes them visible in the dark.

The iMT702 sports FM radio and rechargeable battery, and it has very good sound quality and is compatible with iPhone. Although, its size is larger than Logitech and Griffin speaker systems but its sound quality and great features compensates its size. The LCD screen displays the playing artist and track information. The iMT702 automatically pauses the music when there an incoming call on your iPhone and plays the ringtone through its speakers.

The iMT702 has a great sound quality given its small size. It beats it’s all competitors with its crisp sound. With ESS sound enhancement, you get surprising amount of stereo fullness. The iMT702 is loud enough to fill a room with music and it can be heard over all type of daily domestic noises. The iMT’s rechargeable battery allows you to move the speaker wherever you want. Altec Lansing claims its battery life to be 3.5 hours while playing at moderate volume and its remote control can work up to a distance of 30 feet.

The bottom line is that the iMT702 is not smallest and loudest potable speaker system but it sports good features with a price of $199.99.
