We all know hoe fierce the competition between two biggest processor makers is. AMD and Intel rivalry can only be compared to what NVIDIA and ATI share in graphics processor department. With Elite processor series from AMD-Phenom and its Intel counterpart fighting hard for the crown of best economical processor, the two giants are also interested in capturing high performance CPU market. News around the corner is that both AMD and Intel are currently preparing to shell out six-core processors that will probably take high resource processing to next level.
Motherboard manufacturers have recently revealed AMD and Intel’s roadmaps about their forthcoming fastest processor . With brand-names as AMD Thuban and Intel Gulftown, these six-core processors are expected to take the market by storm in just a few months. Ultimate level CPU performance will hold the key to new level of gaming and home computing. Intel has already made it clear that their Core i9-980X processor, also known as Gulftown, will be available as soon as this March. But, AMD seem to take some more time for introducing their masterpieces- the Phenom II X6 series processors- 1035T, 1055T and 1075T. All these processors from both teams will be based on 45nm process chips and are expected to be available in this May.
Both companies were known to be involved in something superior to what any other company from market has to offer right now. Some prototype-version six-core processors were being talked about last year. But, nothing seems as reliable as the word from a giant motherboard manufacturer. Reports suggest that Intel’s upcoming i9 Gulftown processors have been benchmarked months ago on three confirmed motherboard models from Gigabyte (1) and Asus (2).
We can expect extreme fight between the two where hardware configuration is concerned. Both AMD and Intel are masters at what they have been doing for last decade or so. Verdict is that AMD will have an edge over Intel if their much anticipated Phenom II X6 processor features AM3 slot. Super fast performance guaranteed with this lethal combination could virtually win the race for AMD. But, it is still too early to say as AMD hasn’t spoken about the processor yet, officially.
