AMD unveils Deneb processors launch date

Advanced Micro Devices forthcoming Deneb processors have already been hitting the headlines for the last couple of weeks, and, as their release date comes even closer, latest information on them seem to be surfacing day after day. The chip maker has already said that the latest chips will be under the Phenom II brand, which will come built-in with the high-end models, whereas the low-end parts will be recognized as Athlon.

As maintained by the latest news, the 1st new line CPUs will be available in the market on the 8th of January, more accurately; they will be consistent with the already-existing AM2 and AM2+ chipsets from the company. These chips are supposed to remain on the market for approximately half a year, during which the Sunnyvale Company is looking forward to complete the transition to the next-generation AM3 platform, suited to fit the needs of the latest processor.

An article from HKEPC has shown both the names of the latest Phenom II and Athlon parts slated to be released at the start of the next year, and the market segments the chips are targeting at. It appears that the manufacturer has planned to release 7 quad-core 45nm processors sporting in core speeds starting from 2.5GHz up to 3.0GHz. The 2.5GHz part is likely to be Phenom II X4 805, featuring 6MB of cache, just like the 2,6GHz Phenom II X4 810.

Both chips have been slated to released for February, together with the 2.6GHz Phenom II X4 910 with 8MB of cache. The other 4 Phenom II X4 chips are 920 sprinting at 2.8GHz and 940 clocked at 3GHz, both sporting in 8MB cache and being surfaced on January 8th. The 2.8GHz Phenom II X4 925 will come in February as an AM3 part, just like Phenom II X4 945 sprinting at 3GHz, which is scheduled to be coming in April next year with 8MB of cache.

AMD, besides the quad-cores, has also planned to launch two Phenom II X3 processors founded on its code-known as Heka chip, the Phenom II X3 710 sporting in 2.6GHz and 7.5MB cache and Phenom II X3 720 with the similar cache but 2.8GHz clock speed. Both chips are likely to appear in February 2009.
