AOL is reducing the number of products day-by-day. After closing the services like MyMobile, XDrive, AOL Pictures and Bluestring, the company has decided to close the AOL Video Uploads service in this week.
AOL will distribute the FAQ to its users to avoid any confusion. All those users who have stored their videos on AOL will get an official e-mail from AOL in this week.
All the users must remove their videos before December 18, after which the service will be closed and videos will not be available after that. AOL has considered various options and has recommended its users to move the videos to MotionBox. The MotionBox is a New York based startup that offers the video sharing and editing services. According to AOL, MotionBox is best suited to its users’ requirements. The MotionBox services are free and also include some good features.
The MotionBox supports all the features that AOL users enjoy. The AOL is offering its users a simple process to transfer their videos to MotionBox. The users can also download or delete their stored videos before December 18, 2008. After December 18, the videos will no longer be available for the users to access through the AOL Video Upload site. If a user doesn’t download/delete the video from the AOL or transfer the uploaded videos to the MotionBox, the videos will be removed from AOL’s Video Upload as a part of closing the service.
The MotionBox is offering the following features to the users:
- simple and easy transfer of videos from AOL
- high-quality video playback and full-screen viewing options
- fast uploading of videos of any format
- tools for editing and mixing the videos
- video embedding on your Website or blog
- sharing with privacy settings to protect your content
