Apple intros upgraded Xserve in India

Apple has introduced its upgraded Xserve server in India. The upgraded server boasts Intel’s Nehalem Xeon processors to speed up the performance by 89 percent per watt in comparison to the traditional systems.
The Xserve server boasts two 2.93 GHz Intel Xeon processors offering speed limit upto 2.93GHz. The server provides enhanced storage capacity i.e. 128GB SSD and upto 3TB of onboard memory. The internal storage are found in Xserve’s three 3.5 inch drive bays, which are compatible with 7200 rpm SATA and 15,000 rpm SAS drives.
The Apple server comes with a a controller having channels of 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC memory extending nearly 2.4 times the memory bandwidth while minimizing memory latency up to 40 percent.
David Moody, Vice President of Worldwide Mac Product Marketing at Apple said, “The Xserve is the best workgroup server for our education, business and creative customers. With up to twice the performance, better power efficiency and an innovative SSD drive option, this is the best Xserve we’ve ever made.”
The upgraded Apple Xserve sport two PCI Express 2.0 x16 expansion slots to ensure mammoth I/O bandwidth for the latest high-bandwidth expansion cards and RAID card option for high speed performance up to 497MB/s.
The Apple Xserve supports RAID levels 0, 1 and 5 with 512MB of cache. It provides a 72-hour backup battery with improved data protection. Apart from that, the server also features Mini DisplayPort output with internal graphics, two FireWire 800 and three USB 2.0 ports. It also integrates Bonjour-enabled Lights-Out Management processor and Server Monitor Software.
The Xserve is compatible with SATA Apple Drive Modules, while featuring 450GB 15,000 rpm SAS drives, Gigabit Ethernet and a 750W redundant power supply. The Apple Xserve is now available. Its price is Rs. 1, 78,400.
