The market is full of rumors about the Fall 2009 version of Apple MacBook. Some people expected that it is going to be less expensive version and some expected it to be a touch-screen laptop. But both the rumours turned around to be wrong when the new MacBook was launched recently. Though this is the latest version, the users with older version don’t need feel disappointed and look for an upgrade. The users waiting for the manufacturers to slash the laptop prices will definitely be happy to see that Apple has kept the price of the new version to be same as that of the older MacBook. However, there are a number of omissions on the new 13-inch Macbook. These include FireWire port and SD card reader, which are now featured on the latest 13- and 15-inch Macbook Pro laptops. Keeping these aside, the Fall 2009 MacBook is so far the best version Apple MacBook.
Priced at $999, the new MacBook is sleeker than older version. It is 13 inches wide, 9.1 inches deep and just 1.08 inches high. It definitely belongs to the category of thin and light laptop as it weighs just 4.7 pounds and 5.5 along with AC adapter. The internal components are essentially same with some minor upgrades. The processor is bumped from 2.0GHz to 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The GPU remains the same with Nvidia GeForce 9400M and the hard drive is bumped up to 250GB from 160GB. You can go for 320GB and 500GB hard drives as well. The default memory is 2GB, 800MHz DDR2 which can be increased up to 4GB. The laptop runs on Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard and is equipped with Nvidia MCP79 motherboard.

The new MacBook is made of unibody aluminum chassis, which used to be the prime feature of MacBook Pro laptops. But it keeps design features of older version such as sloped edges on lid. The bottom panle is provided with darker off-white color and it contrasts well with the glossy whit lid. The new version features the large glass multitouch trackpad that was not present earlier on MacBook but MacBook Pro. The whole trackpad presses down like single mouse button.
The laptop has 13.3-inch display with 1280×800-pixel resolution and it is LED backlit. It doesn’t have edge-to-edge glass which is available on Pro models. Moreover, the keyboard lacks backlighting. The expansion, connectivity and networking options are essentially same with Mini-DVI, stereo speakers, headphone/microphone jacks, two USB 2.0, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optical drive.
