ASUS goes after Kindle with its new DR-950 e-reader
Asus has a good reputation in market as far as its laptops are concerned. But now giving a go to the e-books world, it seems quite tough when the Kindle has already cut a big piece of its cake. So, the competition in the e-book arena is really becoming tougher day by day and others, be it big or small ones, are just making their every possible efforts to paunch upon the big cake. Well, Asus also seems to one of those, that’s why; it has now added a one more model to its collection of e-books. The earlier one was known as the DR-750.
The new DR-950 e-reader, on the dimensions front, comes with the weight of just 370g, but it is thick about 0.35-inch (9mm). Though, the Asus DR-950 e-book reader doesn’t come in such a charming colors, its 9-inch screen may help the company to save its itself as it boasts of providing an amazing resolution of around 1024×768 resolution.
Besides, the Asus DR-950 e-book reader is also highlighted with storage of around 2 or 4GB, though not confirmed as yet. In addition, the all new DR-950 e-book boasts of an expandable SD card slot, WiFi connectivity, HSDPA, a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as a USB, which help you hook it with your PC. And if the media reports are to be believed, the device is also said to come featured with WiMax support.
Last but not the least, the brand new ASUS DR-950 is also said to offer support for TXT, PDF, Audible, ePub, MP3, HTML, GIF, JPEG, BMP and PNG file formats, alongside RSS and text to speech.
Of course, there is no word from the company as to the pricing and availability of the all new product, but, thanks to the World Wide Web, we are able to enjoy the pictures of the DR-950.

I am very excited to see the DR950 in person. I have a Kindle now but want something a bit different. I sure hope that Asus prices it so that it’s affordable. I imagine they will because they are known for asking low prices on their netbooks.
