Asus DR-950 touchscreen e-reader espied in the wild


With their immense sleekness and portability form factors, e-readers are now all set to get you rid of the conventional reading materials, such as newspapers, books and magazines. Barnes & Noble, Sony, Amazon and several other giants of the tech-world have already infiltrated the market with such offerings. Now, it’s Asus’ turn to get into the pitch with its brand new DR-950 touchscreen e-reader.

Apparently espied at Asus’ U.K. office, the all new e-reader comes built-in with a 9 inch grayscale SiPix e-paper touchscreen, which boasts of providing 1204 x 768p resolutions. In addition, as far as its connectivity options are concerned, the device is said to be offer the users with optional WiMax, WI-Fi and HSPA. And as to its memory capacity, it touts to come packed with an onboard storage of 4GB, which can be expanded with the help of a built-in SD card.

This e-reader is additionally adorned with the functionality of text-to-speech, RSS reader, web browser, a virtual keyboard, stereo speakers, 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and more the device also comes stuffed with a dictionary whose database can easily be expanded.

In addition, the device also boasts of accommodating Audible, TXT, PDF, insecure ePub content and the MP3 as well. As to the dimensions of the device, it is measured 222mm x 161mm x 9mm and comes with the weight of just 370g.

Mum’s about the pricing and availability of the DR-950 e-reader so far, but let’s find out if it could stand among all the other contenders in the e-book market. Though we all are aware of the fact that Asus has a good reputation as far as its laptops are concerned. But let’s see if what it has to offer for the e-books lover, and especially in the market that is already housed with the giants, Amazon, Sony, Barnes & Noble and lot more.
