Asus G50V reviews – powerful gaming laptop with lots of features

The Asus G50V is a range of latest gaming laptops which comes pre-loaded with lots of features and provides excellent performance which is worth the price that you pay for them. The unique black and orange outlook of the laptop will definitely attract your attention as soon as you look at it.

The Asus launched the G50V at the Republic Of Gamers Convention, which was held in early 2008. The lid of the laptop is provided with glossy black finish and ROG engraved on the lid. The lid of the laptop also features flashing light strips on its edges and hinge. As you will open the laptop, you will notice its glossy 15.4-inch wide display which offers a native resolution of 1440×900. On the top of the screen a 2-meagpixel webcam is located beside the microphone. The screen has a glossy finish which affects the gaming experience due to limited viewing angles.

The G50V notebook is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.40GHz CPU and 4GB of DDR2 RAM. The processor supports the dynamic overclocking and you can choose from three different performance modes-Normal, Turbo and Turbo extreme. The notebook uses the Nvidia GeForce 9700M GT graphics for providing the excellent gaming experience. The G50V comes pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium and offers storage of 320GB on the hard drives spinning at 5400rpm. The hard drives are configured in RAID which enhances the overall performance. In addition to that, the G50V is equipped with 8x dual-layered DVD writer, with LightScribe.

The notebook offers large number of connectivity options. These include VGA-out, HDMI port, four USB ports, a FireWire port, SPDIF, multi-card reader, eSATA, modem, an Ethernet port, audio jacks and ExpressCard. You can also connect the cable TV through its antenna input. There is also a LED strip located between the keyboard and the hinge. It gives you easy access to info like CPU and RAM usage along with chat notification, e-mail and battery life. A number of touch sensitive controls allows you to launch Asus’ Utility Manager-Direct Console.
