The Sony Vaio FW560F/T is a very impressive high-end laptop, which offered a Blu-ray drive and still managed to keep its price at psychological $999. In competition to the Sony Vaio, the Asus has launched its high end machine, the Asus G60VX, which is also priced at $999. But the Asus failed to accommodate Blu-ray drive in place of standard DVD burner. As the reviews, it is equipped with smaller hard drive when compared to Sony Vaio. The Asus has tried to compensate for these two disadvantages by including Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M graphics card and faster-rpm 320GB hard drive, which provide better gaming performance than Sony Vaio.
At 14.8×10.4×1.6 inches, the G60VX lies between the Asus G51 and G71 models and sports a display with size greater than G51 but smaller than G71 laptop. Like Sony Vaio, it comes with 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 processor but it is underpowered when compared to Core 2 Quad or Core i7 processors that power most gaming laptops.
Another thing worth noting is that this laptop comes with 16-inch display woth 1366×768 resolution, which is lesser than 1080p-resolution of other G60VX models. Other hardware includes 4GB of 800MHz DDR2 memory, 320GB 7,200rpm hard drive, Mobile Intel GM45 Express chipset and discrete 1GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M graphics card. The laptop comes with preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) operating system.

The keyboard also makes it a better candidate as gaming laptop than the Sony Vaio FW560F/T. In additional to raised keys, you do get a separate number pad that makes it more effective as a gaming machine. Moreover, the keyboard has backlighting, which you won’t find on many sub $-1000 laptops. The touchpad is also very comfortable and it support multitouch gestures. The laptop also has very good audio quality as it has EAX Advanced HD 4.0 audio system, which provides great 3D sound effects.

It’s quite disappointing that you cannot connect Bluetooth peripherals, as there isn’t one. But you do get other essential ports and connectors with the addition of eSATA and FireWire ports. You get four USB 2.0 ports, VGA-out, HDMI, Stereo speakers, headphone/microphone jacks, S/PDIF jack, SD card reader, Ethernet, and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi.
