The Asus U6V is an ultraportable laptop that does not cost you much and provides pretty good performance with good feature set. The Asus is priced at $1649 and comes with installed Windows Vista Business operating system.
The ultraportable laptop runs on 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4GB of RAM. The U6V uses nVidia GeForce 9300m GS integrated graphics chipset. When it comes to the overall performance, the U6V outperforms many other ultraportables. The laptop provides a 320GB hard drive for data storage, which will be sufficient for storing your music and videos. But you will not enjoy the media on this laptop as much as you want because the laptop sports a single speaker with poor sound quality. So, you must get good quality headphones or speakers.
The U6V sports a 12.1-inch display which provides a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The display is very bright and crisp which makes it easier to view when you use it outdoor. The overall design of the laptop is very attractive and its leather palm rest will definitely going to attract you. As expected, the keys are smaller than the regular key size. Moreover the touchpad is small with very small mouse buttons which are a bit difficult to use. A fingerprint reader is also located between the mouse buttons. The laptop comes with a Bluetooth mouse which will solve the problem of small touchpad.
The U6V houses a number of ports and connectors which include three USB ports, an eSATA port, HDMI-out, VGA-out port, gigabit Ethernet, a Webcam and an ExpressCard/34 slot. The U6V also features the Asus pre-boot interface which allows you to use few basic applications without opening the Windows. The pre-boot interface allows you to run Web browser, photo viewer, Skype and many other applications without running the Windows.
The Asus U6V weighs 3.5 pounds when you include the 6-cell battery and 4.4 pounds when you also include the power adapter. With its 6-cell lithium ion battery, the laptop runs for nearly 3 hours and 30 minutes, which is on the lower side for an ultraportable notebook. However, Asus provides an additional 3-cell battery without any additional cost.
