Priced at $2199, the ASUS W90Vp-X1is an impressive desktop replacement laptop. Measuring 17.4 inches wide by 12.9 inches deep by 2.5 inches high, the laptop weighs 13.2 pounds (the AC adapter adds another 2.8 pounds). The laptop is powered by 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 and is equipped with 6GB of 800MHz DDR2 memory. The graphics are handled by two 512MB ATI HD4870 graphics card, which are integrated on Intel X38 Express chipset. The laptop comes with preinstalled Windows Vista Premium operating system and 320GB 7,200rpm hard drive.
As far as design is concerned, there is nothing to talk about the boring looks of the laptop. The design of the laptop doesn’t reflect its gaming prowess. The laptop is designed with blue brushed metal lid section, while the internal casing is provided with combination of black brushed metal and shiny black plastic.
As the features, the laptop houses a matte-black keyboard along with separate number keypad. The keyboard looks rather small as compared to other laptops in its category. The laptop house two touch-sensitive arrays of controls, which are located above the keyboard, and on the left of the keyboard.
The array located on the left houses controls for volume, media playback, and shortcuts for music and DVD playback applications. The array located on the top of the keyboard houses controls for changing display brightness, mute, toggle for the touch pad, button for 2-megapixel Webcam, and selecting performance modes. The laptop also allows you to overclock the 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 CPU to 3.28GHz with the touch of a button.
The laptop boasts of a 18.4-inch wide-screen LCD, which has native resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, which is perfect for watching 1080p HD videos. The laptop also offers comprehensive array of ports and connector, which include VGA-out, HDMI-out port, 5.1 speakers with subwoofer, headphone/microphone jacks, 4 USB 2.0, mini FireWire, eSATA, multiformat card reader, ExpressCard/54, modem, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and DVD burner.
The ASUS W90Vp-X1 comes in fixed, retail configuration and it is available via NewEgg.com but you also have option to go for the W90Vp-A1, which is equipped with 2GHz Intel Quad Core Q9000 processor, 320GB hard drive, Blu-ray combo drive.
