Canon has launched the A495 and A490 models recently. The company has paid a heed to the budget and came up with this launch. The camera is the successor of the Canon A480 model. The small lightweight body of the models adds to its advantage over A480. The Company needed to fight the odds with competitors like Sony cybershot. The camera is uniquely designed, soft edged and include some impressive automatic features.
The scene detection technology has added new colors to the cameras. Canon a495 can detect 18 different scenes while the A490 can do 13. This makes it more user friendly as it auto detect any scene work accordingly. Advanced face detection and the Red eye correction makes your family looks at its best all the time. The capability to work wonders even in low light and reducing motion blur makes it unique.
The cameras are also capable of video recording at VGA resolution with sound. The most important aspect of the video recording is direct upload to You Tube through the computer. The cameras support SDHC and SDXC memory cards with the later providing storage up to 2 terabytes. The Canon Image Gateway allows the owners of the A495 and A490 to share online photos. The best part about the camera is it’s a zero effort camera which might give it a go ahead among the users.
The camera has a whooping 10 Mp resolution, 3.3x optical zoom and 2.5 inch LCD screen. The cameras are perfect choice for someone with a low budget for a decent camera. The new A495 and A490 come in cool silver and blue color. The company still uses the AA batteries which works wonders for the cameras. Another innovation on the part of canon is shooting in low light without flash.
The low budget cameras will be available by mid February. Prices are not final but A490 will cost around 110$ while A495 at 130$. The budget will certainly work in their favor and it will take its competitors by surprise. The digital camera market is closing its gap everyday with new brands coming in. Canon surely has put a step ahead with A490 &A495 but it need to keep the good work going.
