Canon EOS Rebel T2i Review

Canon, next to the T1i model has come out with the new Canon EOS Rebel T2i which looks similar to its predecessor in every possible way. This digital camera holds an identical shape and size compared to T1i except for the more rounded shoulders in the new Rebel T1i series. Canon T2i can be called the baby brother of Canon’s prosumer EOS 7D model as it includes several features of the latter model under its skin.

Canon EOS Rebel T2i comes with an 18 megapixels sensor which is similar to 7D model though T2i does not shoot pictures as fast as 7D.

The number of frames per second has augmented from 3.4 frames to 3.7 frames per second when compared to the previous T1i model in spite of the increase in the resolution. The presence of 3:2 ratio has also changed the dimensions of the brand new T2i which now features 1.04 million dots resolution.

The card compatibility of Canon EOS Rebel T2i includes SDHD, SD and SDXC and the user awareness of the special wireless SD cards is found to improve with the presence of a new Eye-fi status screen. The ISO option of the Canon T2i series ranges between 100 and 6400 apart from a special, high ISO option which is about 12,800.

The movie mode covers 1080p recording at 24, 25 and 30 fps rather than the relatively limited T1i which boasts of a limited 20fps. Similar to an external mic input jacket, manual video exposure is also feasible in Canon T2i. Though the available date of Canon T1i is yet to be announced, it will soon be more popular among the photographic enthusiasts. It also includes an external microphone socket and a movie crop function.

Canon EOS Rebel T2i will feature the same EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS kit lens that comes with T1i. Currently Canon EOS Rebel XSi is not into production and hence there are only two other Rebel models namely Rebel XS and Rebel T1i. It is widely expected to carry a price tag of $899. On the whole Canon EOS Rebel T2i is easily the best camera available in the Rebel series and it would definitely become the buzz word of both amateur and serious photographers.
