When you decide to buy a printer, you try to find out a direct relation between the price you pay for it and the charges you will incur when you need ink refills. But if you get a bargain in which the printer itself is very cheap, then this problem is at least half solved if not full. Canon’s Pixma iP4600 consists of five ink tanks that house fresh ink, the cheapest of which costs around £40 for a full set. But the good news for you is that the printer itself costs a mere £75. So, the deal is not that bad after all. The unit is shipped with almost everything that you will need to set it up and get going with it. The printer shipment contains an easy-to-follow instruction guide, a software CD, and a tray in case you decide to choose to print directly onto a disc surface. Just follow the instructions carefully on the guide and in no time, you will have this printer ready to do its job.
The Pixma iP4600 is a photo-ready inkjet. This means that this printer works best with photographic material. The supplied software gives you the option to choose the right kind of paper for your printing job. Once you select the paper of your choice, you are good to go. As far as the printing area is concerned, it is this area where this printer impresses you the most. The printer produces excellent printing results. The photographs printed by the unit boast of exceptionally strong, vivid, and vibrant colour reproduction accompanied by subtle shades. As far as printing text is concerned, the dedicated black ink tank of the device lives up to your expectations. The printer offers printing speeds of a full A4 photograph in two minutes and nine pages of text pages per minute.
People who are design freaks may find its box like design boring. The paper handling capacity of this printer is a mere 150 sheets of paper. But these are just minor concerns. For a price of £75, the Pixma iP4600 offers excellent performance and passes off strongly as a versatile home inkjet printer.
