Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS digital camera reviews

canonsd1200isThese days, the camera manufacturing companies are thinking more about loading their devices with as many features as possible without even thinking about any other thing. In the quest of adding features, they sometimes compromise on the image quality of the cameras. Having said that, it is kind of uncommon these days to find a basic camera that comes across as nothing but a simple point and shoot model.

The Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS is a good model in this regard. With a minimalistic and compact design, a small features package, decent photo quality, and good performance, the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS aims to make its mark in the simple segment of cameras. The camera is available at a price of $230.

As far as the dimensions of the camera are concerned, it measures about 3.5 inches ×2.2 inches × 0.9 inches and weighs about 4.9 ounces. The Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS boasts of being a 10 megapixels camera. The size of the image sensor of this camera is about 1/2.3 inches.

The camera sports an LCD screen whose size is about 2.5 inches. This screen offers a native resolution of 230K. This camera gives you the option of both digital and mechanical image stabilization. The camera holds a lithium ion rechargeable battery that gives a performance of around 260 shots in a single round of complete charge. The camera is available in orange, pink, green, blue, dark gray and silver colors.

As far as controls are concerned, the camera is pretty easy to operate and is minimalistic in terms of technicalities. The camera features the standard Smart Auto, Movie, and Program/Scene modes. The back of the camera features a Function button surrounded by a four way directional pad. You will also find a Menu button at the back of the camera. The camera offers only standard shooting options. The scene modes offered by the camera include Portrait, Landscape, Fireworks, Long Shutter mode among others.

The camera shoots movies with a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels. The photo quality of the camera is extremely decent with natural, smooth, and vibrant colors and less noise and purple fringing in the images. Overall, the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS comes across as a decent point and shoot camera that is surely worth a try.
