The launch of the iAudio 9 mp3 player came right after its fruitless predecessor the iAudio7. It was one of those multimedia players that you really did not want to be seen with in public. However the iAudio 9 has made major improvements and it is trying to mend the dented reputation of its earlier version. The iAudio 9 measures at 43mm x 95mmx 8.6mm and weighs at a mere 40g. Despite of this it is one of the heavier and larger mp3 players available today.
In spite of its weight and size the iAudio 9 stands above the rest when it comes to price. The 8GB version is at around US$ 150 and where as the 16GB model comes for around US$200. The design is authentic and the matte black finish is definitely eye catching. It does not compromise on looks and functionality but rather it’s a balance of the two and without doubt a better multimedia player than the iPod Nano.
The interface in the iAudio 9 will take some time getting used to. The vibrant 2 inch display and the sensors make up the front portion of the player. The controls are very easy to use and its jam packed with various features. Therefore inbuilt drop down menus and intricate functions makes the iAudio 9 very unique. The sensors works differently on various screens and this helps when controlling the sheer number of options given in the menu.

The format support is immense and this is a good indication on the improvement from the previous version. WMA, OGG, MP3, WAV and many other files can be played without any extra codec. Video files such as AVI, WMV and ASF are playable as well. One striking feature is the TV output cable which allows videos, music and images to be seen on a bigger screen.
The flash player is very useful as well and coupled with the capability of reading text and JPEG images the iAudio 9 would be a sensible purchase. As its reviews, the iAudio 9 boasts a battery life of 29 hours of audio and 7 hours of video, which is quite believable as proved by its previous version. The FM tuner is integrated for the radio listeners. Also equipped with great earphones the iAudio 9 is undeniably a worthwhile and affordable MP3 player.
