D-Link intros Green Technology solutions


d-link_logoD-Link has announced the expansion of its Green Technology solutions, which boats of saving energy with competent performance. By introducing Green networking, D-Link claims to put forward a complete range of Green Technology solutions like Wi-Fi routers, network-linked storage (NAS), switches, Internet-based digital photo frames as well as the upcoming D-Link Green Powerline network adapters.

D-Link Green solutions are required to act in accordance with its recently-instituted program ahead of the products are termed Green. These products need to fulfill numerous needs such as; D-Link’s energy-saving technology, acting according to green initiatives (like WEEE, RoHS, and ENERGY STAR) and have got to utilize the D-Link’s eco-logical sustainable packaging.

Mr. Jayesh Kotak, VP – Product Management, D-Link India Ltd, was quoted as saying, “Identifying products as D-Link Green is not arbitrary but is instead a process in which products must comply with the program’s specific product requirements and initiatives before qualifying. We will continue to build innovative green technology into these and other product lines as part of our commitment to becoming more energy-efficient without sacrificing performance.”

Let’s find D-Link’s products that have the Green Solution one by one,

D-Link Network Switches: These are rolled out 1st time in the market. They have power-saving link-down mode that is capable of shutting down the ports while not operational. The D-Link unmanaged Green switches brags of automatic power usage rely ing on the cable length.

D-Link 802.11n Wi-Fi Routers: Considering the cable length, D-Link routers comes with automatic power adjustment and power-saving link-down mode. The Wi-Fi Scheduler is capable of saving power and improves security as it brags of turning off the wireless local area network (WLAN) automatically. The SharePort technology can save power while used in terms of a print server.

D-Link Network Storage Enclosures: The 2 and 4-Bay storage enclosures brags of saving energy as they have been crafted to power down the 3.5-inch SATA drives if they aren’t accessed within assigned time. D-Link’s storage enclosures also include Smart Fan that brags of detecting the temperature of the device in order to auto adjust the fan speed and so saves power.

D-Link Digital Photo Frame: The D-Link digital photo frame provides internet access and is capable of disabling the screen/backlight automatically if lacking motion detection.

D-Link PowerLine Adapters: The D-Link PowerLine HD Ethernet Adapter & PowerLine HD Ethernet Starter Kit boasts of saving energy as they power down as and when there is not Ethernet activity.
