Dell XPS 730x reviews – an excellent and decently priced gaming machine

dell-xps730xThe new Dell XPS 730x is the “mid-level” version of Dell’s high-end gaming system Dell XPS 700. This machine is priced at $3,809. The model aims to lie between the base model of the Dell XPS series and the very expensive XPS 730x H2C, which is expected to be priced above $6,000. The entire chassis of this machine is huge and metallic. The 730x is available in silver, blue, and red colors. Dell has renamed the system’s internal and external lighting system, LightFX, as AlienFX in order to match with its Alienware gaming brand. Each of the five sectors or zones of AlienFX is customizable.

The machine comes with a special feature called the “Theater lighting” in which the machine’s interior lights automatically go on when its side panel is opened. The 730x includes a Blu-ray drive reader and a 1-kilowatt power supply. The chassis has slots for up to two more PCIe graphics cards while it has an included single Nvidia GeForce GTX 280. The system comes with 6 GB of RAM. The machine gives an option of addition of up to two more internal SATA hard drives in addition to the included two 300GB SATA drives.

This machine surprisingly lacks a hard reset or rear power switch. This means that in the event of a computer-hang, the user will have to pull the power cord. The 730x is powered by Intel Core i7-940 processor that is capable of streaming up to eight streams simultaneously. The 730x offers incredible graphics in the case of 3D games. A good part is that the 730x supports configurations of both ATI’s CrossFireX and Nvidia’s SLI multi graphics card. As far as multimedia is concerned, the 730x offers Windows Media Encoder timing at 32 seconds and Photoshop CS3 at 22 seconds. This machine’s kilowatt power supply has the capability to power a lot of drives, graphics cards, or other peripherals. So, the 730x is totally suitable for upgrade options. Overall, the Dell XPS 730x is an excellent, performance oriented, and decently priced gaming machine.
