I see there are more than a few of us who have been gypped by Epson! I have spoken with a retired judge and with a lawyer and both of them say this is a clear case of violation of the Competition Act and that we can successfully take action in a Consumer Court against Epson. Please pass this information to other people you know who have bought Epson products and would like to join in this action. My email address is rajiv.personal@gmail.com Please write to me and inform me in you would like to join in the Consumer Court action against Epson. All those who seek relief can share in the costs of Consumer Court.

Yes, I do agree with all of you its a piece of crap or shit and also their after sales customer care is hopeless and whenever I opt for print command the printer tends to give only blank paper/sheets only , they cheated on me and also about the horrified Ink problem.
    HOPELESS

NEVER BUY EPSON PRINTER, PRINTER COST LESS BUT EPSON WILL MAKE U FALL IN A TRAP WITH BUYING THEIR CARTRIDGES AGAIN AND AGAIN AND THEY MAKES THEIR INCOME FROM CARTRIDGES AS IT GETS EMPTY AUTOMATICALLY BECAUSE OF THE CHIP SETS TO ZERO & it will show empty cartridge A WAY TO CHEAT CUSTOMER VERY EFFICIENTLY Epson CX5500 is a ink soaking gaint. Installing New 91N cartridge, charging process itself affects the ink level also ink level automatically decreases with ON/OFF printer significantly [ 10% of previous ink level approx. for 91N ] which is negligible with HP or canon printer. Black 91N give may be only 5 or 6 pages plain paper text print or 20 pages if u r lucky with a particular cartridge.
u will loose 70% ink if u try the alignment process which is essential for perfect printing. realignment requires again if u change 91N with 73N cartridges. Pressing reset also decreases the count may be to zero and buy cartridge again and again.
Install one cartridge , another cartridge becomes empty during charging process only. One way - Cheat epson by using refillable cartridge with auto reset chip which is in no way affects the printer as it will never take time to become empty though ink is there in the cartridge. or best is NEVER BUY EPSON PRINTER

I wish I had read this before buying this piece of crap. After about 10 4x6 pictures, one ink cartridge was shot. I wanted to print a document in black and white but the printer is frozen until you replace the color cartridge. The old one seems to still have ink but the chip can not be reset. Epson needs its head examined for using this type of consumer technology.

Thanks for this review Rajiv - helped me to save money for another crap printer that doesn't allow refills. Business practices like that can't be called else than fraud and just piss off their customers. HP, Canon etc., no way I buy again their current crap models unless I read ON THE BOX that their cartridges can be refilled.

Again, thanks for taking the time for posting this here.

I bought a TX111 about 2 months ago. It is the worst piece of technology I have purchased in my life. The print quality is abysmal as well as inconsistent. Unlike HP printers, this printer will not switch on issuing a print command.

Epson has now done an HP over HP, by ensuring that the cartridges cannot be refilled at all. Apparently, a microcontroller embedded in the print cartridge assembly keeps a track of ink level in the tank and will keep reporting an empty tank even if it is refilled on emptying. I am sure Epson falls foul of several Anti-trust laws as well as India's Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act. This is like a car manufacturer ensuring I can only buy petrol for his car from his authorized vendors for Rs. 70,000 a litre!

Wake up Epson... You're playing with customer sentiment and I feel your business methods have cheated me of being able to exercise choice of ink vendor. I raise my voice in protest against Epson here!
