Keeping other than technical issues aside, Firefox 3.6 is considered as a real success to otherwise excellent web browser which had succeeded in outperforming Microsoft Internet Explorer in every aspect. Even if Firefox is facing fierce competition from other biggies like Safari and newly joined Chrome from Google, it is still maintaining its position as people’s best web browser. Mainly thanks to versatile applications and themes available for the browser, Firefox has managed to outperform rest of the browsers.
Most important changes in Firefox 3.6 architecture included a very important upgrade to the new Gecko 1.9.2 render engine which provides lightning fast browsing experience which is the backbone of Firefox. Beta testing of Firefox 3.6 lasted for nearly four months before Mozilla finally decided to release a stable version of the browser in last week. One of the most popular customization add-ons for Firefox, Personas were integrated into the new version of Firefox so that users can access it from inside the browser instead of going for extra addon. Other features of Firefox 3.6 include full screen HD playback of Theora videos which could put a full stop to video incompatibility problems of Firefox. Secure plugin manager system and open webfront access are the two major features that would please web developers and advanced users. Mozilla had successfully tested its beta releases as Minefield versions. Up next is a minor update codenamed Lorentz. Firefox is expected to get much-awaited out-of-process plug-ins that would impart great stability in the browser and also improve its performance.
