Fujifilm Finepix F60FD is among the best point-and-shoot cameras with scene recognition capability in addition to face-detection ability. The 12-meagpixel camera has a 3-inch screen but it looks similar to its predecessor, F50fd. Those looking for flashier color will be disappointed. When you point the camera to take a shot, it automatically detects the light conditions, shapes and focus distance, and chooses the scene mode accordingly. It also automatically adjusts the shutter speed and sensitivity when you try to shoot in low-light or at night. If your subject is close, its macro mode focuses on fine details of the subjects.
Although shooting involves automated optimization but there is minimal shutter lag. The main reason behind it is the continuous monitoring of the subject. The automated optimization need more power than an average camera, so F60fd looses its charm on the battery test.
You can also turn off the auto scene recognition mode and can choose from modes like sporting events, beach outings and firework display. You can also choose among the aperture priority, shutter priority and full manual modes. The image stabilization feature helps in eliminating the effect of unsteadiness. But the camera lacks advanced features like manual focus, exposure bracketing and panoramic stitching. The camera also supports SD/SDHC memory cards other than the xD card.
The Fujifilm Finepix F60fd is equipped with Fujifilm’s Super CCD sensor which gives really good performance in the low light conditions. So, don’t hesitate to shoot at night or in indoor as the image quality will not disappoint you. The indoor images look clear with very low distortion. The bright light images look pretty sharp with minimal distortion. The camera also sports a flash light but its better to avoid the use of flash as it will do more harm than the good. The movie mode allows you to shoot the clips with a resolution of 640×480 in AVI format with mono sound. Like most of other cameras, it is not possible to zoom while working with movie mode.
In the end it can be said that using the F60fd is real pleasure. With scene recognition feature, you don’t need to think before shooting.
