Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile U9210 reviews

The ultraportable Esprimo Mobile U9210 from Fujitsu is aimed at business users. The entry level model is priced at £726 and the range tops out at £988. The notebook is designed to provide a solid feel.

Measuring 30cm wide by 22.9 cm deep by 3.65cm high, the device weighs 1.95kg. The notebook sports a 12.1-inch screen which has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The display is bit small as the frame around the screen covers large area. The notebook would have been able to sport a 13-inch screen. The notebook also features a spill-proof keyboard. The users feel a little flex from the keys. The half-height function keys lie in a row above the number keys.

Just above the function keys, there is on/off switch along with five shortcut buttons for various applications. One button opens the login screen, second opens Windows Mobility centre and enables you to adjust volume, brightness and power settings. The next button launches Fujitsu Siemens Launch Center which enables you to access notebook manual and bundled software. The fourth button allows you to conserve battery by invoking Fujitsu Eco mode and the last button enables the wireless features. However, these buttons can be programmed to handle other applications of your choice.

The touchpad lies below the keyboard with fingerprint sensor between the mouse buttons. Some of the versions also sports pointing stick which located between G, H and B keys. However, the touchpad lacks vertical and scrolling features.

The U9210 offers five different processor options. These include 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 2.8GHz T9600, 2.26GHz P8400, 2.53GHz T9400 and 2.16GHz Celeron 585. The notebook is equipped with 2GB of RAM and comes with installed Windows Vista Business operating system. However, you are also provided with a DVD of Windows XP Professional if you decide to downgrade. The graphics are managed by GMA 4500M HD with integrated GM45 Express chipset. The hard drive options are 160GB SATA spinning at 5400rpm and 7200rpm, 120GB spinning at 5400rpm and 320GB, all the drives comes with anti shock protection. The optical drive is located in modular bay which has space for second battery, second hard disk, ExpressCard slot or weight saver. The notebook sports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, mobile broadband module, Ethernet and modem for connectivity.

The notebook comes with 1.3-meagpixel webcam which can be used for videoconferencing as notebook offers automated installation of Instant messenger, Skype, MSN Messenger, AOL and Yahoo Messenger.
