Measuring 31.9cm wide, 24.4cm deep, 3.65-3.85cm thick, the Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook T5010 is a business oriented laptop from the manufacturer. The T5010 looks more like the revamped version of the LifeBook T1010, which was launched about a year ago. As the features, the laptop weighs around 2kg and sports a 13.3-inch display, which has native resolution of 1200×800 pixels. The screen boasts of wide-viewing angles for comfortable viewing. The laptop can be used as both traditional laptop and tablet PC. The laptop comes with a stylus, which allows you to navigate quickly as well as use it for handwriting recognition.
The laptop boasts of a spill-proof keyboard with large sized keys, which do not flex under pressure. The overall typing experience will be good for the touch typists. The touchpad located in the wrist rest is also adequately sized and is provided with vertical scrolling but it lacks the horizontal scrolling. However, the horizontal scrolling is provided on the screen bezel, which is quite uncomfortable as it makes the navigation a bit disjointed task. It would have been better if the horizontal scrolling would have been incorporated in the touchpad itself.
A number of status LEDs and controls are present in the screen bezel. These controls are pretty useful when the laptop is in Tablet PC mode. These controls include fingerprint reader, on/off switch, two microphones, 1.3-megapixel webcam and an array of five controls, which allows you to launch applications like Windows Mobility Center and screen rotation.
The T5010 offers a number of Intel Core 2 Duo processor options, which lie in the range from the 2.26GHz P8400 to the 2.8GHz T9600. Also, the laptop memory varies from 2GB to 8GB. The laptop uses the Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, which comes preinstalled the Intel GM45 Express chipset. You also get a number of options when it comes to hard drive. You can go for 64GB solid state drive or either of the 120GB, 160GB or 320GB standard hard drive. The laptop comes with preinstalled Windows Vista Business operating system but you have option to downgrade to Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, should you decide to do so.
The connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile broadband, Gigabit Ethernet, three USB 2.0 ports, a VGA-out port, a FireWire (IEEE 1394) port, standard pair of headphone/microphone jacks, ExpressCard slot, SmartCard reader, and memory card reader.
