Garmin–Asus Nuvifone formally announced for Asia
Garmin-Asus has eventually made an official announcement of their Nuvifone in Asia. Shortly to be shipped in Asia, Nuvifone G60 & M20 phones, the company says, will present an unmatched and perfect concoction of navigation and location based service.
Besides, the Nuvifone series claim to offer an LBS centric touchscreen with mobile web-browser and a personal navigator. The touchscreen display has three prime icons, which want you to just swipe your fingers and scroll the icons on the display.
Cliff Pemble, Garmin’s president and COO, says that our lives revolve around location and taking that base into account, the Nuvifone has been crafted, and that’s what makes it different from other phones.
Asus Vice President and General Manager of Handheld Business Group was quoted to have said that the Nuvifone has the capacity of perfectly linking the navigation with other normally-done activities such as navigation and talking together at the same time.
Both the handsets boast of offering a 3mp camera along with geo-tagging and auto focus capabilities. The Nuvifone G60 comes sized in 112 x 58.1 x 14.6 mm and is compatible with Linux OS, whereas, the M20 works well with windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS and has been sized in 95.3 x 52.5 x 12.8 mm. Besides A-GPS, the device also comes built in with an actual GPS receiver with hotfix. Users can use it if they want directions at their fingertips even when there is no network area.
The G60 and M20 also come integrated with 3 G or Wi-Fi networks and HTML browser. All these features allows users to enjoy web-surfing on their mobile .It boasts of having a number of helpful and interesting point such as streets & restaurant, addresses of hotels, and so on.
The G60 at present can be availed in Taiwan. The device will hit the soil of Singapore & Malaysia by August 2009, while the Nuvifone M20 is slated to be shipped in Hong-Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore in August and in Europe in 2nd half of 2009.
