Garmin Nuvi 265T GPS Review

The Garmin Nuvi 265T GPS is loaded with so many features that its 3.5-inch screen feels very small. The Nuvi 265T offers lifetime traffic service, Bluetooth calling, a substantial point-of-interest database and lot more. Yet the screen is a bit small to take advantage of all the features that it offers you.

When you switch on the device, you are presented with two options: “View Map” and “Where to?”. This makes it easy to use the device for those who have never used a GPS device before. The options can be accessed easily and the screen looks attractive.

The routes delivered by Nuvi 265T are at par with those delivered by Tom Tom One 130S and Navigon 2200T but none of the device was as fast as Magellan Maestro 4350 and Tom Tom GO 930. Still, Nuvi 265T makes you keep going even if it is not the fastest among the GPS device.

The Nuvi gives accurate estimeate of tarvel time which is an advantage over Navigon and Tom Tom One. The lifetime traffic service is a definite bonus but it has some price as occasional advertisements come on 265T. The ads are controlled byt NAVTEQ which provides the traffic services. The POI database is easy to navigate and has large number of POIs as compared to Tom Tom One.

The advanced features includes hands free calling when paired with Bluetooth cell phone, currency converter, photo viewer. Moreover you can downlaod or navigate to Google Panoramio pictures. The compatibilty with MSN direct allows the device to gather information like, local weather, gas prices. However this service requires purchase of reciever($120) and a subscription.

The device is small and slim in size and you can easily fit it in your pocket. But the screen size could have been larger and it would have allowed you to see all the features offered by 265T.

The Nuvi 265T is resonably priced at $300 but you can buy it online for about $275.
