Garmin outs Egde 500 cycling GPS


Garmin-Edge-500Here comes a unique and high-sensitivity GPS receiver for the cyclists. Known as Edge 500 T, the latest device is crafted for performance cyclists and is a complete task manager for them as well. Weighing just 2 ounces, the GPS-based device helps cyclists keep track of time, speed, distance, GPS position, elevation, calories-burned together with the climb and descent.

The Edge 500 also comes built-in with a barometric altimeter, which helps to locate changes in elevation. It also syncs wirelessly via ANT+ technology with attuned 3rd-party power meters. The device, on being used with Garmin heart rate monitor, also features advanced heart rate-based calorie intake. The Edge 500 can also wirelessly get paired with Garmin speed/cadence sensors.

As the reviews, the Edge 500 is featured with HotFix, which boasts of fast acquiring and maintaining satellite reception. The device also features temperature readings, and make an automatic alteration in time zones, Besides, It also informs the riders when their time doesn’t work while they are on the go. The device also boasts of 18 hours battery backup. It is built-in with a low-profile quarter-turn mount, which can easily get fitted on to a cycle’s stem or handlebars.

When you connect Garmin heart rate monitor with the Edge 500, you can better calculate the calories burnt. This helps to keep track of the micro changes in a user’s heart rate. With a view to bring in the Edge 500, Garmin tied with Firstbeat Technologies.

Cyclists are now able to monitor Team Garmin’s attributed rides or opt for download, share and analyze rides of their own by just participating in Garmin Connect. User are also free to view details via the all the rage Google earth application.

You can easily charge the device through a USB and it also helps you transfer data. As to its pricing, it is for $249.99 and on being paired with the heart rate monitor it comes with the price tag of around $349.99.
