General Imaging, which happens to be the licensee for GE digital cameras, has recently launched its first waterproof model. This first-ever waterproof model, the G3WP has been announced at PMA 2009. Measuring 3.7 x 2.4 x 0.9 inches (Width x Height x Depth) in dimension, the G3WP is designed to take snaps at water-based activities or even in the rains.
This 4.2 oz (approx. 120 gram) waterproof camera is featured with a 2.7 inch TFT color LCD display of 234,000 pixels, 4x Optical Zoom, 6.75mm Wide – 27.0mm Tele focal length and f/3.5 Wide – f/5.15 Tele F number. The recording media of the camera includes an internal memory of 116 MB and SD / SDHC Card supporting up to 8G. The shooting modes of this 12.2 Megapixel camera include Auto, Manual, ASCN, Image Stabilization, Movie, Scene, Portrait and Panorama mode. The Scene Mode features Sport, Children, Indoor, Leaf, Snow, Sunset, Fireworks, Glass, Museum, Landscape, Night Landscape and Night Portrait. Other features include Single AF, Multi AF (TTL 9 point), Face Detection, AF Assist Light (On/Off) and USB2.0/AV-OUT (Integrated Proprietary Connector). The Smile Detection feature detects the subject’s smiling face and automatically release the shutter and removes the appearance of red eyes in any. The GE G3WP waterproof digital compact camera is powered by a 3.7V 700 mAh DS5370 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable battery and is waterproof up to a level of 10 feet. The ISO Sensitivity of the device are Auto, ISO 64/100/200/400/800/1600/3200.
The LCD screen of the G3WP camera can adjust to the changes in ambient light automatically. The camera also features Auto Scene Detection, Blink, Smile, Face Detection and In-Camera Red Eye Removal. The G3WP waterproof digital compact camera is equally active under water and even on the rains. There is no news regarding the availability and pricing of the camera yet. However, the GE G3WP digital camera is expected to roll into the market this summer for a price of about $200.
