Google Site Search Provides On-Demand Indexing of Websites

Google Site Search is a hosted search solution, which lets websites owners make use of an external search engine to show a variety of information. For this service, Google has introduced a new useful feature that is known as On-demand indexing of websites.

Google says its latest On-Demand Indexing provides:

• Site owners get an “Index Now” button to quickly and easily update their site search results with new and updated content.
• New pages are searchable within hours — taking no longer than a day to appear within site search results.

Tanya Wendling, senior director for Learning Resources at Adobe, was quoted as saying:

“On-Demand Indexing was essential for our recent launch of Adobe Creative Suite 4, the biggest software release in the company’s history. Google Site Search made it easy to implement search across our Creative Suite product line and online sites, and we are now able to index thousands of new pages and make them available to millions of users worldwide within hours.”

Google Site Search service is available by paying a price of $100 each year for websites consisting below 5000 pages. After creating a Google account, the users can avail the free service, and the creation of account is must in order to be able to employ custom options or multiple websites.

Meanwhile, on the fly search engines can be built-in some websites just by pasting a predefined HTML code, without creating a Google account. In order to be able to index the latest website content, the user has to define a valid sitemap, which has the URLs of latest modified pages. Besides, the users are also required to utilize Google Webmaster Tools to confirm the sitemap validity. A search engine feature integrated to any website will certainly develop the user navigation options making the content more accessible.
