Grundig, which is a part of Harvard group, has challenged some established companies generating Freesat receivers by introducing GUFSDTR500HD having some great features. Automatic upgrading of software via satellite, simple installation and operation, remote control, multiple output resolutions are a few of the features. It is very user-friendly device fulfilling all requirements and available in two versions of hard drive, 500GB and 320GB.

Grundig has really worked hard on the design of box, resulting into smart exterior of 290mm width. It has stylish and shiny black finishing with cool, curved outlook and nominal set of keys; which makes it more appealing than other Freesat receivers. On the back there is healthy collection of sockets. It is integrated with 500GB, which grabs 312 hours of standard definition or 125 hours of high-definition TV, and a high capacity PVR.

This device has enormous specifications. It is twin HD tuner which record two channels simultaneously as it lets you to record one channel while viewing another. It has an HDMI output supporting 1080i, 720p and 576p, which provides digital interface for clear transmission of picture and sound. It also has a twin SCART outputs and optical and coaxial digital audio outputs. To receive Freesat, there are two LNB inputs which are connected to functioning satellite device; so no need of contract TV service.

The Device is quiet popular in experts because of its pleasing aspects. From Astra 28.2E satellite, it can receive and record almost 140 digital channels and HD broadcasting. It is an eco-friendly device, as it consumes power of 1W in standby mode and can record, pause and rewind live TV at just the touch of button. It is infused with RJ45 Ethernet connection which upgrades software as well as latest features.

Unfortunately like all devices, it also has some drawbacks. Its width may not be suitable for DVD players and Blue-ray players. We can not upload or unload files onto external hard disk. Also users have to check the onscreen display for information as it does not have a front panel. We are waiting for a proper launch with fewer flaws. As per the official records, retail price of product is $249.99 which is annoyingly high for a product which has bigger competitors.
