HP G60-235DX Reviews

hp_g60-235dxThe $600 G60-235DX from HP is not there to attract you with its design or style but it will definitely make an impact with its incredible combination of features and performance in its price range. Most laptops in its price range pefer to use slower AMD processor but the G60-235DX offers a 16:9 display along with Intel Dual-Core CPU and separate number pad.

Measuring 14.9 inches wide, 9.9 inches deep and 1.4-1.7 inches high, the laptop weighs 6.3 pounds and 7.2 pounds with AC adapter. The laptop is powered by 2.9GHz Intel Dual-Core T4200 and 3GB of 667MHz DDR2 RAM. The graphics are handled by Intel GMA 4500MHD which is integrated on Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset. The laptop provides storage space of 320GB on its hard drive which spins at 5400rpm and comes with Windows Vista Home Premium operating system.

The laptop has a boxy design which is derived from the HP’s dv line of laptops. The laptop features a hinge running above the display and a one-piece wrist rest which houses a touchpad which is made from indented area of the keyboard tray instead of adding separate touchpad. The laptop boasts of 16:9 displays which allowed HP to provide an additional numberpad which is not possible on 15-inch laptop with 16:10 displays. The laptop lacks media-control or quick-launch buttons, which means you will have to use the function-key commands.

The HP G60 sports a 15.6-inch wide-screen LCD display which provides native resolution of 1366×768 pixels, which is typical of this screen size. The screen is excessively glossy and reflective under moderate lighting conditions.

The laptop offers plenty of ports and connectors which include VGA-out, HDMI, Stereo speakers, headphone/microphone jacks, 3 USB 2.0, SD card reader, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, DVD burner. The LightScribe branded DVD burner allows you to create grayscale text and images on burned disks. The laptop lacks ExpressCard slot and Bluetooth which are offered by most mainstream entry-level laptops.

The HP G60’s battery runs for nearly 2 hours and 30 minutes with DVD video playback which means it will provide better running time with Web browsing and other basic applications.

I own this laptop and I love it! Yes there are downfalls, like the bluetooth, but what computer does have every tiny little detail you want for this great price?
