HP integrates workstations with Six-core AMD Opteron processor


hpxw9400workstationHP has launched its latest workstations along the lines of Six-Core AMD Opteron 2400 series processor. The HPxw9400 Workstation, the company says, will cater the needs of different market segments, such as oil, engineering, gas, 3-D digital content creation and science.

The HPxw9400 Workstation gets its power by AMD Opteron processors in order to produce more and more. It has the capacity of holding around 2 Six-Core AMD Opteron processors, making it total 12 cores. The processors also boast of ensuring 34% more performance per watt than the usual quad-core processors.

HP is expected to have realized the growing demand of customers for money-spinning and product enhancing workstations, so that they could be able to yield desirable return on their investment in short term. By integrating 12 cores in single workstation, HP is aimed at fulfilling these particular demands of the customers.

The HP workstations come featured with AMD HyperTransport 3.0 technology (HT3). Using this technology, the entire system will be able to achieve superior performance by guaranteeing interconnect rates from 2 gigatransfers per sec (GT/s) around 4.8 GT/s. You are also allowed to configure the HP xw9400 including the ATI FirePro V7750 3-D workstation graphics accelerator.

The Six-Core AMD Opteron processor boasts of providing top-line performance but for making any comprise to feature in the product line.

It is for this season, John Fruehe, Director, Business Development at Server Workstation Business of AMD, was quoted to have explained that integrating the ATI FirePro V7750 3-D workstation graphics accelerator in the robust HP xw9400 Workstation and 6-Core AMD Opteron processor provides you with an optimal blend of computing performance and high-end graphics capability.

The HP xw9400 workstation also come featured with an 80 PLUS power supply to slow down energy usage and waste heat. The state-of-the-art HP workstation is also regarded as Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold product. The HP workstations come featured with a tool-less chassis design for instant manual upgrades. These workstations are more than 90% recyclable by weight.

The HP xw9400 Workstation can be availed with the price tag of around $1,899.
