Priced at $729, the HP Pavilion dv3-2155mx is a fixed configuration retail mainstream laptop without any other configuration option. Measuring 12.9 inches tall, 8.7inches wide, 1.4 inches deep, the laptop if fairly lightweight; weighing just 5 pounds (the AC adapter adds another 0.9 pound).
As the features, the laptop is powered by 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 processor and comes equipped with 4GB 800MHZ DDR3 SDRAM. For the graphics, the laptop offers dedicated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics card. At the heart of the laptop lies, the Intel GM45 chipset and 500GB at 5,400rpm hard drive. It means you have plenty of storage space for your movies and music. The laptop comes with preinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) operating system.
The HP Pavilion dv3-2155mx takes its design cues from other Pavilion laptops, such as the imprint finish that is found on their lids. The Pavilion dv3-2155mx is provides with dragon-and-floral print that runs vertically throughout its chassis, which designed in indigo-blue color. The dragons’ imprints are provided on the lid, touch pad and the wrist rest.
Like its sibling, the 14-inch Pavilion dv4-1465dx, the Pavilion dv3-2155mx comes with an extended-cell battery for longer backup but the battery stick out from the rear bottom of the laptop. The extended battery provides impressive back up of 6 hours on video playback. But the protruding battery makes the laptop a bit cumbersome when you use it by placing in the lap as the battery only runs up to three-fourth of the length of the laptop.
Another thing worth mentioning is the glossy touchpad, which is difficult to use as compared to touch pad with matte finish. The glossy surface lacks the friction. However, the keyboard doesn’t have any issues. The keys are good for fast typing but they are also provided with glossy finish to blend the keyboard with the overall design.
The laptop supports a 13.3 inches display, which has native resolution of 1366×768 pixels and offers wide 16:9 aspect ratio, which is great for watching HD content. The screen is also provided with glossy finish but it has minimum glare.
The laptop offers all the necessary ports and connectors, which include VGA, HDMI, Webcam, Stereo speakers, headphone/microphone jacks, 3 USB 2.0, eSATA, mulitformat memory card reader, ExpressCard/34, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, and DVD burner. However, there are tow noticeable omissions, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, that almost all mainstream laptops offer. Moreover, the HP pavilion dv3-2155mx offers 10/100 Ethernet instead of Gigabit Ethernet.
