The HP Pavilion dv4-2045dx is among the most powerful laptops in mainstream category. The 14-inch laptop is ready to impress the users with its multitasking prowess. The laptop has great array of internal components that marks its superiority in its category. As most 14-inch laptops are equipped with 5400rpm hard drive, the Pavilion dv4 comes with a 500GB hard drive, which spins at 7200rpm. Even though it has 2.2GHz AMD Turion II Dual-Core M500 CPU for computing, the laptop performs at par with other Intel based machines. Its attractive design and comprehensive assortment of ports makes it a tough competitor among mainstream laptops.
Priced at $579.99, the dv4-2045dx comes with 4GB, 800MHz DDR2 memory that compliments the CPU and fats hard drive for vey quick performance. The users should not face any issues even if they are running multiple applications simultaneously. At 13.2 inches wide by 9.5 inches deep and 1.3 high, it is a compact and portable device. The laptop weighs 5.4 pounds and there should not be any problem to carry it around. Other internal components include ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics card and AMD 785G chipset.
Like other Pavilion laptops, the dv4-2045dx is made of glossy casing that is made of plastic. The plastic casing is all white with gray wavy lines. Though the surface is glossy, the fingerprints are less visible due to the white casing. The screen bezel is made of glossy white metal while the keyboard tray and wrist rest are of white lid.

The laptop has 14.1-inch wide-screen LCD screen, which is similar to other laptops in its category. Its 1280×800-pixel resolution is also standard for a 14-inch display. The display is very bright and videos look very impressive. Though the laptop doesn’t have any touch-sensitive media controls, you do get a remote control for Media Canter.

Other than standard ports and expansion slots, the HP Pavilion dv4-2045dx has few extras such as eSATA port, HDMI-out port, and HP proprietary expansion port. In addition to that, you get two headphone and one microphone jack, two USB 2.0, one USB/eSATA, multiformat memory card reader, and ExpressCard/54. The connectivity options include Ethernet, modem, and Wi-Fi. You also get an optical drive.
