The HP Pavilion dv7-3165dx is mainstream laptop, which is meant not be carried around. The laptop is ideal for those users, which are not inclined towards serious multitasking but need a budget laptop with large screen.
At 16.2×10.9×1.7 inches in size and 7 pounds in weight, the dv7-3156dx is a large and bulky laptop that is not easy to carry around and it is meant to be kept plugged as it has power hungry components. with $780 price, the laptop is powered by old generation 2.5GHz AMD Turion II Ultra Dual-Core M620 CPU and 4GB of 800MHz DDR2 memory. Most of the mainstream laptops come with Intel’s i3 and i5 Core processors and DDR3 memory. So, the dv7-3165dx is bound to be slower than its Intel counterparts. Other internal components include AMD RS780 chipset, 128MB of ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 video memory and 500GB 7,200rpm hard drive. The Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) has become a standard OS for all the latest mainstream laptop and the dv7-3165dx also comes with the same OS.
The dv-3165dx is made of entirely plastic in Espresso Black Imprint color scheme. The bottom of the laptop is matte black and the rest of the laptop is made of glossy plastic, which acts like a dust magnet. The lid is glossy black and houses the HP logo in the lower left corner. The interior is also black with the exception of touch pad and edges, which are made of silver plastic. The lid and the wrist rest have faint circular shapes, faint pin-striping, and silver bubbles.
The laptop has full sized keyboard along with a separate number pad. The keys are made of glossy plastic and are always covered with fingerprints after typing. The touch pad is large but it also has glossy chrome finish, which also attracts fingerprints. A row above the keyboard features touch-sensitive media controls along with standard volume and Wi-Fi controls. You also get a remote control for media playback.
The dv7-3165dx’s 17.3-inch display has 16:9 wide-screen aspect ratio and 1600×900-pixel resolution. The LED backlighting makes the display look bright and sharp. The display is perfect for watching HD content.
The laptop has all the ports that you might need along with the inclusion of DVD burner/Blu-ray player. The laptop supports Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, and offers three USB 2.0, one USB 2.0/eSATA combo, multiformat card reader, stereo speakers, two headphone jacks, one microphone jack, VGA-out, and HDMI jack.
