HP has unveiled another Pavilion series laptop, the dv6-1375. But this laptop is definitely going to face tough competition from the Sony Vaio VGN-NW270F/S. The Sony Vaio excels the HP Pavilion at all fronts, whether it is design, price, or performance. The Sony Vaio NW270 is priced $200 less than the HP Pavilion dv6 and it still manages to accommodate better internal components, superior design, and a Blu-ray drive. The only thing that Sony Vaio doesn’t have is the rich sound of Altec Lansing speakers that are provided by HP pavilion dv6. There is no doubt that most users will bypass the HP Pavilion dv6 for Sony Vaio NW270.
At $899, the HP Pavilion dv6-1375dx is priced $100-200 more than its competitions that offer similar components, with the exception of faster 6GB 1066MHz DDR3 memory as compared to 4GB DDR3 or DDR2 memory offered by its competitors. However, its faster memory is not of much importance when it comes to the overall performance. As the reviews, the laptop is 14.9 inches wide, 10.2 inches deep and 1.6 inches high. Though it is on slightly thicker side, it is portable at just 5.8pounds. The laptop comes with 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7450, discrete Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics unit, Intel GM45 Express chipset and 500GB hard drive, which spins at 7200rpm. Like most recent laptops, it runs on Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

Both Sony Vaio and HP Pavilion have 15.6-inch displays, with 16:9 aspect ratio and 1366×768-pixel resolution. But the HP Pavilion looks craving for more space, as its keyboard is very cramped. The dv6 comes with a number pad that makes the whole keyboard a bit cramped as the keys are placed very close. Another disappointing thing is that there are no multimedia touch-sensitive controls. You only get mute, volume and Wi-Fi controls that are touch sensitive. But HP has tried to make up for this deficiency with the inclusion of Media Center remote control. The good thing about the dv6 is its audio quality. The Altec Lansing speakers provide good sound quality, which is great as the dv6 claims to be a entertainment laptop.

The HP Pavilion dv6 covers all the bases when it comes to ports and connectors. You get HDMI, VGA ports for video, three USB 4.0, one USB/eSATA port, ExpressCard/54, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and DVD burner.
