HTC Touch HD review- mobile for business users

HTC Touch HD is large handheld that supports a high resolution 3.8-inch screen. The large screen makes the Touch HD, a pleasure to use as every kind of information from multimedia to Web browsing get improved on the large screen.

Though the device has a large screen but it is relatively slim. The HTC Touch HD measures 115mm tall by 62.8mm wide by 12mm thick and weighs 147kg. The device requires relatively large pockets but it isn’t unduly bulky or heavy.

The 3.8-inch screen dominated the front of the device and offers a resolution of 480x360 pixels. Just below the screen located four touch sensitive buttons- Call, End, Back and Windows Mobile Home. These buttons provide a feedback when they are touched. This assures the users that the button press has actually registered. But there is a problem as the buttons are located close to the bottom of the device. This makes the device a little difficult to use by one hand and it might fall from hands.

The top edge of the device features a standard headset jack and a thin on/off switch. The left spine features a narrow volume rocker. The bottom edge features a mini-USB connector and a slot for stylus. Though the stylus is lightweight and small, it has less probability of falling out as it is slightly magnetized.

The Touch HD comes with a USB cable to connect it to the PC, an AC adapter, screen protector, stereo headset, a spare stylus, protective pouch, an 8GB microSD card, software CDs and printed quick-start guide. One of the CDs contains full user manual.

The HTC’s Touch HD is a quad-band GSM phone that supports 3G/HSDPA along with GPRS/EDGE. The device also supports GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity. The front face supports a VGA camera for video calling and back face supports a 5-megapixel camera without flash. The camera is capable of shooting photos as well as videos and features autofocus. The image quality of the camera is not as good as its resolution but it is okay for most business users.

The Touch HD features a number of applications along with standard Window Mobile Professional applications. These applications include PDF reader, Google maps, FM radio, MP3 trimmer, Opera Web browser, Zip file manager, RSS reader and YouTube client.
