The Insignia’s Internet Connected GPS is a powerful GPS device which comes with a built-in cellular connection which allows you to access the Google. You can use the power of Google to find hotels, stores, restaurants, gas stations, golf clubs and lots more while travelling. But its User Interface and relatively high price, $299.99 might become deal breaker for this brilliant combination of GPS and data services.
The device features a 3.5-inch LCD screen and its main features include a built-in cellular modem with one year of data service, real-time traffic updates, real-time gas prices, Google Local Search, preloaded maps of the United States, and Text-to-speech functionality with turn-by-turn voice alerts.
The GPs device offers some unique features that are not present on any other GPS system. Its built-in cellular connection is one such feature and it works pretty well Google’s local search. It proves to be quite handy when you are on a long vacation. It enables you to search local restaurants, stores, and pharmacies etc and the real-time gas prices and traffic updates proves to be quite useful on such trip. Moreover, you can transfer your emails directly to your GPS from home or office computer.
The GPS device feels pretty solid with its well built casing. The GPS comes with a dashboard and windshield mount. The device is charged through the USB port which means you can charge it through PC, in-car adapter or the AC adapter. Once charged, it runs for nearly two hours.
The main issue with the device is its User Interface. Though the device sports a 3.5-inch touch screen, the typing the addresses is not a good experience at all. The screen is not responsive as it takes two or three times to register the finger presses. Moreover, the keyboard is small and you will hit the wrong letters and numbers quite often. The User Interface is not intuitive and it takes little practice to get used to it. So, you need to adjust to the device as its Interface isn’t as friendly as other present day devices.
The GPS device is a little expensive at $299.99. It provides really good cell service with one year of free subscription. But there’s no detail as to what it will cost you after one year subscription is over.
