iRecord Pro reviews – Copy, convert, and transfer videos to your personal players like iPod

irecord_proStreaming Networks has launched an extremely portable and easy to use device, the iRecord Pro. This device houses only two buttons, boasts of intuitive indicator lights, and offers familiar connectivity options. This device does not even require you to use or read its manual to get started with it. All you need to do is to connect a video source via the included cables and attach any of a variety of compatible devices via a USB cable. Then, just hit Record. The iRecord Pro is capable of transferring videos in a compatible format from different sources like cable boxes or CD players, directly to your personal players like iPod, Microsoft Zune, Nokia N95 cell phone, or even PlayStation 3. It can also do the transfer same to a USB flash drive or to an external hard drive. The company already has a long list of compatible devices and the list becomes longer with ever so regular firmware updates.

The iRecord Pro is equivalent to a stack of cards at measurements of 1 by 5.5 by 3.75 inches. A small fan inside it prevents it from heating but you may notice warm feeling on the device after about an hour of use. Features like scheduled recording, settings related to recording, resolution and encoding can be easily enabled by updating the firmware on the device. The device automatically adjusts output settings based on the connected device. For example, it records video to iPhone automatically at the default 480-by-320 resolution.

Video transferred through the iRecord Pro to the iPhone look extremely good, particularly in the widescreen source mode. The pro features RCA audio and video inputs, and also boasts of an S-Video connection. The device is shipped with an S-Video cable. The device however lacks HD support. The price of the pro, at $259.99, may seem a little expensive for some. A less capable standard model of the device is available for $199.99. This model limits the resolution to QVGA (320 by 240) and lacks a few key features. Overall, the iRecord Pro is a device that lives up to what it promises.
