The $669 Lenovo IdeaCentre K220 is a revamped version of the IdeaCentre K210 desktop. The system will cost you $998 if you opt for 21.5-inch widescreen monitor from the manufacturer. The K220 is more powerful than its predecessor and offers lot more storage with an increment of just $250.
The IdeaCentre K220 is powered by Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor and is equipped with 4GB of memory. The graphics are handled by Nvidia GeForce 9300GE graphics card. The desktop system provides ample storage space on its 640GB hard drive. This shows that the K220 is a much improved system than the K210, which is powered by Pentium dual-core processor and 2GB of memory. Unlike K220, the K210 uses the integrated graphics and provides storage of just 320GB.
The K220 also gives plenty of options, should you decide to upgrade your system. The system has free slots for an optical drive, a hard drive, two PCI slots and one PCIe x1 slot. There are no free slots for expanding the memory as all the slots are occupied by memory sticks.
The offers comprehensive set of ports and connectors, which include 16-in-1 media card reader, eight USB 2.0 ports, standard headphone and mic jacks, Ethernet, empty drive bays, PCI/PCIe expansion card slots and much more.
Like its predecessor, the K220 offers some features that set it apart from any other desktop system. Most noticeable feature is the included keyboard, which boasts of an antibacterial coating. Other features include Bright Vision for protecting your eyes and VeriFace for keeping your system secure from any unauthorized access. But these features can be used if you buy monitor from the manufacturer. Bright Vision feature allows the system to change the display brightness according to the surroundings and the VeriFace uses the technique of face recognition for logging in to user accounts.
The K220 not only offers attractive features like antibacterial keyboard, Bright Vision and VeriFace but it also beats its rivals when it comes to overall performance. The Lenovo is priced much lesser than the HP Slimline s3710t and Apple Mac mini and it provides better multimedia tasking capabilities.
