Lenovo has recently launched its first nettop. The nettop is launched considering in mind the needs of users who are budget conscious. The nettop is an inexpensive, fan-less desktop. The nettop is specifically designed for surfing net and performing basic computing tasks. Lenovo’s nettops are not high end gaming machines, do not offer overwhelming multimedia experiences, and do not belong to the family of powerful PCs. The nettop, Lenovo H200 houses Intel’s low-power Atom CPU. This CPU helps the machine to consume less power than other desktops. In other words, nettops are the desktop equivalents of netbooks. As the features, they are designed for basic tasks like net surfing and word processing.
As its reviews, the Lenovo H200 is the quietest desktop because it is based on a fan-less design. The computer uses the single-core Atom 230 processor with 512KB of cache. The system is capable of having up to 2GB of RAM. The machine comes with a preloaded version of Windows Vista Home Basic. The computer houses a hard drive that has a maximum capacity of 160GB. The computer has a DVD-R/W drive and its graphics are powered by Intel integrated graphics controllers. The computer comes with a 19-inch monitor. The Lenovo H200 is priced at US$399.
Considering the fact that netbooks offer better mobility, at almost the same price, Lenovo is defending its nettop with strong arguments. A Lenovo spokeswoman said “It’s an affordable option for people looking for a package that has everything they need — the desktop and the big monitor”.
Lenovo has also launched powerful desktops in the form of its models IdeaCentre K220 and K230. These machines run on Intel’s quad-core processors. They come preloaded with 64-bit editions of Windows Vista. The K220 and K230 house Blu-ray drives and support up to 4GB and 8GB of memory, respectively. The models K220 and K230 are available at a price of $449 and $499, respectively.
