LG VX8360 Reviews – a great music phone

lg-vx8300The VX8360 is a successor to LG’s incredible handset VX8350 which was launched two years ago. But there are very few additions in the latest entrant as compared to its predecessor. The handset measures 1.91 inches wide, 3.64 inches long and 0.78 inch thick and is smaller and thinner than the VX83050. The handset is fairly lightweight at 3.35 ounces and designed with dark blue casing with silver trim and chrome border.

The handset sports a 1.17-inch color external display which supports 65,000 colors. It displays information like time, date, battery, and signal strength, caller ID, as well as the photo caller ID. The external display also doubles as self-portrait viewfinder for the 1.3-megapixel camera, which is located above the display and it displays album art and song information when the music application is activated. Like its predecessor, the VX8360 features the music player application keys located below the external display. A large speaker grille is located below the music player keys.

The device boasts of 2-inch internal display which has native resolution of 240×320 pixels and supports 262,000 colors. The display looks sharp and bright with vibrant colors. You have the options to change the clock format, backlight time, the size and type of the fonts, and the menu layout. The navigation array located below the display includes five- way toggle along with two soft keys, dedicated messaging key, speakerphone key, and the Send, Clear, and End/Power keys. The five-way toggle can also be assigned to four applications of your choice. The right edge of the device features a camera key along with microSD card slot whereas the volume rocker and the headset jack are located on the left edge of the handset.

The VX8360 offers the same feature set as offered by its predecessor. The basic features include a 1000-entry phone book, vibrate mode, a speakerphone, text messaging, MMS, notepad, calculator, tip calculator, stopwatch, calendar, alarm clock, world clock, and a voice memo recorder. The advance features include IM with AIM, Yahoo, and MSN clients, mobile e-mail, wireless Web browser, stereo Bluetooth, voice command capabilities, A-GPS, and USB Mass Storage mode.

The handset sports a 1.3-megapixel camera which captures images three resolutions-1,280×960, 640×480, and 320×240 and videos with 176×144 pixels resolution. The camera features include self-timer, night mode, white balance, shutter sounds, color effects, and lots more.

The VX8360 features EV-DO which supports Verizon’s V Cast which includes Verizon’s video streaming service along with V Cast Video, V Cast Music with Rhapsody, and Verizon’s music store. The music player allows you to group the songs by albums, artists, genre, and the music player is provided within V Cast Music interface. Other options include playlist creation, editing, repeat and shuffle mode.
