At the CES fest 2010 in Las Vegas, LG Electronics unveiled their new X300. An ultra-thin high end mobile PC. The X300 measures just 17.6 mm thick and weighs about 970 Gms. The PC has an elegantly designed framework perfectly suited for mobile applications. At the first glance the X300 manages to catch the avid interest of the consumer. It looks like the same net-book as was seen during the end of last year which was also known as X30. But with a few interesting tweaks.
The X300 is powered by Intel’s Atom Z500 processor. Intel’s GMA 500 graphics is also incorporated. The X 300 being fan less along with the silent SSD makes it 100% silent.
In the present market scenario looks matter as much as the performance. The X300 leaves no stones unturned to grab the eye balls. The pearl white finish and border less touch pad adds a touch of class to the whole unit.
X300 also has a 1.3 mp webcam. An advanced 3g modem has been built in to offer seamless connectivity through almost every possible network including GPRS, GSM HSDPA UMTS and Edge Wi-Fi and a 2 cell battery capable of giving a back-up of up to 7 hours. LG has incorporated its famous SRS TruSurround HD sound system. This means you would enjoy crystal clear sound during audio or video conferencing.
The keypad has new features added, Chicklet style key pad with reflective feedback. LG is offering its SmartPack software along with the netbook. It has been designed to synchronize with a smart phone to the netbook, albeit via Bluetooth. It would make reading and replying to text messages much easier. Added features include Smart Recovery and Smart Care which help in keeping the machine run and providing essential assistance for novice users.
One very interesting feature is the Smart On feature based on the Linux OS which has been tweaked to increase accessibility of the often used functions. When ever the computer is booted a menu of the mostly used functions is generated in under 5 seconds.
With so many tweaks we could come to the conclusion that LG has been hallucinating. When the LG X300 UMPC becomes finally available from February this year, it can very well be hoped that it won’t come cheap.
