Logic3 iStation25 reviews – a good dock for the iPhone or the iPod touch with a decent remote

logic3istation25 With the market for iPod docks on the rise, new players are trying their luck in this business. The latest player to enter this business is the Logic3 iStation25. This speaker boasts of a few new tricks to make you have the most of Apple’s latest devices, like the iPhone and iPod Touch. The device binds four full-range speakers into a two-channel arrangement. The arrangement brags of a per channel output of 4W. The design of the dock is such that your iPod is housed cleanly between the speakers. Your iPod or iPhone is held into position with the help of the spring-loaded clips of the device. The device also features a built-in accelerometer, a feature that is rare in most of the other docks in the same field. This technology, used in the iPhone and Touch, rotates the display to landscape mode if the iPhone or the touch is flipped onto its side. This feature helps the most if you are viewing widescreen video on your iPhone or the touch.

An LED at the top of the device highlights to you the change of angle detected by it, if any. A power LED dims or flashes when the dock goes in to standby and sleep modes. The body of the device features only volume and power buttons. But you are provided with a dedicated remote control that houses buttons for adjusting volume, bass, and treble. The remote also lets you to browse the iPod’s menu, select media, and skip back and forth between tracks. A special ‘video output’ button on the remote enables the iPod’s TV-out mode. A drawback with this feature is that you can not output audio via the TV speakers. You must do the same through the i-Station25.

The sound quality of the device is a mixed bag. The sound at a reasonable volume is really impressive but the same at high volumes is convoluted and less enjoyable. You cannot use this device as a ‘party device’. Through the auxiliary line-in port of the device, you can plug in any other portable audio device to this device, using the supplied adaptor cable.
