Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus is a $100 portable audio system with an alarm, built-in clock and uses six AA batteries when not connected to electricity. The speaker system is very sleek and light, weighing only 3.18 pounds. The system is 13.5 inches wide, 5-inches tall and 4 inches deep. A handle on the back allows you to carry it wherever you want.
The device is one the simplest iPod speaker system so far. A volume knob is provided on the front to control the volume. It also allows you to set the time and alarm when you are working in settings mode. A toggle button makes the alarm on and off. You can repeat a particular song or all the songs or shuffle them to play randomly. A remote is provided to control the volume, pause/play, skipping tracks.
The lack of features might prove to be refreshing for some users but some of them might miss the AM/FM radio. If prefer to have radio, you can choose Logitech’s Pure-Fi. The system is GSM-shielded and iPhone users don’t need to put their phone in airplane mode while listening to music.
The speaker system runs on AC adapter which is included in the package or requires six AA batteries. A set of batteries runs for 10 hours. A built-in rechargeable battery would have been a better option for those who plan to take the system with them while travelling.
The sound quality of Pure-Fi Express is not that good but its good enough when compared to speakers in its price class. The system uses omnidirectional speakers, which is a growing trend in inexpensive speakers but it does not seem to have much effect on overall sound quality. The low-end bass and treble is negligible, and there are no bass or treble settings to improve the sound. Moreover, the distortion at mid-volume makes it clear that the system is not designed to fill a large room.
In the end, everything depends on the kind of audio system you are looking for. If you want a compact, nice-looking speaker system for casual listening, the Pure-Fi Express Plus fits your requirement.
