Microsoft Zune, a worthy competitor of Apple iPod

So far Apple’s iPod was the only name in the world of digital music players and happened to be the most popular on the planet. But this was until the release of many such digital music players nowadays available in the market like the Microsoft’s Zune. Like the Apple’s iPod, Microsoft Zune is a perfect digital music player for music lovers and a worthy competitor of Apple iPod.
Due to the difference in the storage capacities, the Zune comes in two different sizes. The smaller one is almost equivalent to the iPod Nano and is available in sizes of 4GB, 8GB and 16GB. These sizes are known as Zune 4, Zune 8 and Zune 16 respectively. The physically larger one has a hard drive and roughly similar to the iPod Classic. It comes in 80GB and 120GB of storage sizes and is known as Zune 80 and Zune 120 respectively. All the above models are included in the second generation Zune players, which are comparatively thinner and better than the first generation Zune players. Also these devices are available in different colors. The Zune 8 comes in black, red, pink, green and blue while the Zune 16 comes in black only and Zune 80 and Zune 120 are available in red and black colors.
The Zune 4 is a very small and light weight device with a dimension of 41.4 x 91.5 x 8.5 mm and weight of 1.7 ounces or 47 grams. As said by Microsoft, this 4 GB model is capable of holding 1000 songs or 25000 pictures or 12 hours of video. It can play formats including WMA, WMA Lossless, AAC, and MP3 and supports video formats such as WMV, MPEG-4, and H.264. In addition to these, the Zune can transcode automatically HD MPEG-4, HD WMV, HD H.264 DVR-MS files.
The Zune is packed in a small and decent black box with a trim of orange color and as you turn the box to see the back, you find the Zune itself with size and color information. The device is packed with a quick start guide, instruction guide, USB cable, headphones and different sets of soft ear buds. However, the pack does not include any software.
